Terms of Use

What you can expect from us, what we need from you, and the limits of what this website is.

01

About these terms

These terms apply to your use of https://www.torontotax.co and to any services you engage Toronto Tax Boutique Inc. to provide. By using this site you accept them.

02

This website is not tax advice

Everything published on this site - service pages, guides, blog posts, calculators and FAQs - is general information about Canadian tax. It is written carefully and kept current, but it cannot account for your particular circumstances.

Tax outcomes turn on details: your residency, your province, your income mix, your marital status, your immigration history. Do not act on anything here without confirming it applies to you. Once you engage us, the advice we give you directly is advice; the website is not.

03

Pricing and estimates

We publish our rate card in full, and we intend it to be accurate. Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude 13% HST.

Where a fee is shown as a range, the final amount depends on the complexity of your file. Our price calculator produces an estimate, not a quote. We confirm the exact fee with you in writing before we begin work, and we do not add charges afterwards that were not agreed.

Deposits are non-refundable. We may change our published prices at any time; the price we confirm with you for an engagement is the price for that engagement.

04

Your responsibilities

A tax return is only as accurate as the information behind it. When you engage us, you agree to:

  • Provide complete and truthful information, including income we have not asked about specifically.
  • Send supporting documents promptly, and tell us if something is missing or estimated.
  • Review the return we prepare before it is filed, and tell us about anything that looks wrong.
  • Keep your own copies of source documents for at least six years, as the CRA requires.

We are not responsible for consequences arising from information you did not disclose to us.

05

Our responsibilities

We will prepare your return with professional care, claim the credits and deductions you are entitled to on the information you give us, tell you the fee before we start, and support you with CRA correspondence relating to returns we filed.

We cannot guarantee a particular refund amount, a particular processing time, or that the CRA will not review or reassess your return. Refund timing is controlled by the CRA, not by us.

06

Payment

Our preferred payment method is Interac e-transfer. We also accept card payments through Stripe. Fees are payable as agreed at the outset of the engagement, and we may decline to file until payment is received.

07

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any engagement is limited to the fees you paid us for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud.

08

Intellectual property

The content, design and code of this site belong to us. You may read, print and share pages for your own use. You may not republish our content commercially or present it as your own.

09

Ending an engagement

You may end an engagement at any time. We may decline or end an engagement where we are asked to file something we believe to be inaccurate, where information we need is not provided, or where fees remain unpaid. If an engagement ends part-way, we will invoice for work completed and return your documents.

10

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
